Hi, I’m a proud resident of Newbury. I’m a graduate of Triton Regional High School, a decorated Vietnam era veteran, successful business owner, and leader of many business and civic organizations, including the Newburyport Lions Club.

I love my town, and it saddens me to see that working people, including our young people, veterans, and the elderly can no longer afford to live here. We need a State Representative who truly cares about the people of our town and works 24/7 to improve our lives. We need a State Representative who is truly independent and will insist on an independent audit of our State Legislature — an audit mandated by the people and now rejected by the guys in charge.

That is why I am so pleased to endorse Dan Kelly of Ipswich. Dan understands that many of the drivers that are making life unaffordable were created by a one-party state that does next to nothing for small towns like Newbury. Our state income tax dollars don’t come back to the community for school improvements and needed infrastructure, but instead are used to subsidize large urban areas and pet projects that make no meaningful difference in our lives. Our electric bills are double the national average because our politicians refuse to expand natural gas availability and consider innovative nuclear options. Our building codes create burdensome efficiency requirements that add tens of thousands of dollars to home construction and renovation.

We need a change! Electing Dan in November means more transparency in government, more funds directed to local needs, and a door that is always open to hear your needs and concerns. Vote for Dan Kelly in November.
